We’d like to present to you three shows that are starting to stream right now.

The 8-part miniseries »Constellation« starts today on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes. When the trailer was released three weeks ago, we immediately marked the series in our calendar:

This is the premise: NASA astronaut Jo Ericsson, played by Noomi Rapace, is the only survivor of a devastating catastrophe on board the ISS space station. Back on earth, she suffers from memory gaps and delusions. She also remembers past events differently than her daughter. What is reality? Is there even a conspiracy?

Noomi Rapace has already gained experience playing an astronaut in »Prometheus«. Her place on a cast list is always a reason to tune in. Jonathan Banks, who we all remember well as Mike Ehrmantraut in »Breaking Bad« and »Better Call Saul«, also plays a leading role as a scientist and mission leader.

We expect that Apple TV+ will once again meet their own high standards and provide us with an exciting slowburn mystery story.

By the way, a large part of the series was filmed in Germany! 

The first episodes of the third and final season of “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” can also be seen on Disney+ as of today. The animated series, which is an offshoot of the show "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", takes place immediately after the Clone Wars and tells the story of the so-called Bad Batch - a group of clone troopers who have acquired special abilities through genetic mutations.

After the events of the previous seasons, the unit is split and the members around Sergeant Hunter, Crosshair and Co. have to defend themselves against threats from all sides in order to reunite the group with the clone girl Omega and fight against the Empire.

With the streaming start of »Avatar: The Last Airbender« on Netflix, the battle against the Fire Nation goes to the next round. As of tomorrow, you can watch Avatar Aang and his friends on the streaming platform.

Near the southern Water Tribe the siblings Katara and Sokka discover a 12-year-old boy in the ice. He's not just the last airbender, but also the missing Avatar. After a hundred years the Fire Nation already has burned some parts of the world to ashes. Now it's Aang's turn to restore the harmony of the four elements. But first he has to learn how to bend them.

The animated series of the same name by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko first aired in 2005 on Nickelodeon before it was replaced by »The Legend of Korra« in 2012. Before that, the live action adaptation »The Last Airbender« hit theaters in 2010, which earned a lot of bad reviews. That’s why fans are hoping for a comeback that will honor the work of DiMartino and Konietzko. We're looking forward to it!

Musician biopics have been popular for several years now. »Bob Marley: One Love« only opened in cinemas last week. This weekend, Studiocanal presented the trailer for the story of Amy Winehouse in »Back to Black«. The film is expected to open in cinemas this April.

What a voice! What talent! And a life that ended far too early, marked by psychological problems, drugs and alcohol addiction. Her star burned brightly for eight years before she died of alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011 in the London district of Camden at the age of just 27, becoming another prominent member of the Club 27 after Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain.

What remains is her incredible presence and voice. We hope director Sam Taylor-Johnson (»Fifty Shades Of Grey«) and leading actress Marisa Abela (»Industry«) will be able to capture the magic of Amy Winehouse on the silver screen.

With a slight delay we would now like to officially introduce to you our two new colleagues: Joanna and Eva! They're both part of the S.P.A.C.E crew as of February 😁.

Joanna (in the middle) may already look familiar to some of you from our last video or from Instagram. After a few eventful first days with a visit to the Toyfair in Nuremberg she's now in the middle of settling in and supports us with our editorial output and with our content on social media and YouTube.

Eva (on the right) is already being diligently trained by us as well. Of course it will take a while until we've shown her everything we know. In the future, she'll be your contact for complaints and returns and will assist you well in these matters.

»Barbie« is the most successful film of 2023. The flick is nominated for an Oscar for best picture as well as in seven other categories. However, director Greta Gerwig and leading actress Margot Robbie came away empty-handed.

If you missed the big "Barbenheimer hype" in the summer, you can catch up with Barbie now, provided you have a Sky or WOW subscription. The film can be streamed there as of today.

As very toy-oriented contemporaries, we particularly enjoyed the loving recreation of the Barbie world, such as the off-scale pink Corvette, various play sets, Weird Barbie and many a creative derailment from the long history of the Mattel toy.

The film »Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever« was part of the official program at the Fantasy Filmfest White Nights. Soon it will be hitting theaters in several countries.

Ole Bornedal created a sequel to his surprise hit almost 30 years after the original from 1994. »Nightwatch« now rightfully enjoys cult status. The story about Martin (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who takes a job as a night watchman in a pathological institution, his friend Jens (Kim Bodnia), their impossible bets and their confrontation with the serial killer Peter Wörmer (Ulf Pilgaard) was told to the end. After the showdown, the killer looked pretty dead and there was a kind of happy ending for our protagonists.

For a sequel, Bornedal's script has to make a few adjustments. The killer survived and is blind in an asylum. The former teenage heroes are traumatized. Martin is a pill-addicted wreck and his girlfriend Kalinka even committed suicide because she couldn't process the traumatic experiences of that time. The film gives us a few bitter pills to swallow. The main characters from yesteryear are back in a modern legacy character style but are now only shadows of themselves. At the center of the plot is Emma, the daughter of Martin and Kalinka, embodied by Fanny Leander Bornedal, the daughter of director Ole Bornedal.

It's certainly debatable whether this sequel was necessary. The reviews are very mixed, a lot of the story seems over-constructed and for those familiar with the genre the twist is quite predictable. It also hurts to see what has become of our heroes from back then. On the other side of the coin there is an exciting, atmospherically dense production, creatively implemented kills and a main actress who delivers a great performance.

Even if »Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever« probably won't achieve the cult status of the original, it seems to be an entertaining and exciting film.

The biopic »Bob Marley: One Love« opens in cinemas today. The film focuses on the time when his album »Exodus« was created. For our crew member Mick, there are very personal memories attached to it. So today we've got some slightly different film news. Let's let Mick tell you ...

"I had my first contact with reggae towards the end of the 1970s. Mickey, a friend from my village, played me the »Exodus« LP. He was a big reggae and Bob Marley fan, knew a lot about the music and about Rastafari. I was exposed to a sound I had never heard before. The very next day I bought the record and a number of other reggae records were to follow.

On June 13, 1980, Bob Marley gave a concert in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle as part of the »Uprising« tour. Of course we had to be there! Mickey had had a car accident the year before and was still struggling with the effects of a compound broken leg. He was worried he wouldn't be able to stand for the entirety of the concert, so we found a seat in the stands. We had a good view of the stage and were in a great mood. The first 20 minutes of the concert were performed as a warm-up by the I-Threes, the background vocal trio. Then Bob Marley hit the stage. And we, like everyone else sitting, jumped up. »Positive Vibration«. We then danced through the entire concert until the end of the second encore and the last bar of »Lively Up Yourself«. Mickey's leg didn't cause any trouble either. It was pure magic. Bob Marley and the Wailers were at their very best. The evening went down in history as the best concert of our lives.

We had no idea at the time that Marley was already sick and would pass away eleven months later at the age of just 36 years. That evening, he had secured his place in the book of my heroes. Now I'm very excited about the film and I hope to rediscover some of the magic of that time."

Gamers will have the chance (again) to get into touch with a piece of videogame history: »Tomb Raider I-III« Remastered was finally released today!

When the first »Tomb Raider« was released in 1996, a lot of gamers had some kind of revelation. Such freedom in movement combined with a third-person-view hadn't existed before. Besides that, it had a dynamic camera that adjusted itself to the on-screen action. To keep it short: »Tomb Raider« newly defined the term "Action Adventure".

And then there was Lara Croft. She wasn't the first heroine in videogame history, but no other made such an impression. Lara wasn't just able to do almost impossible acrobatic stunts, she also was a genius in terms of shooting guns. Who could resist? But her effect was not limited to games. Soon people outside the gaming community would know her, too: Lara was the face of advertisements, was considered a sex symbol and an emancipated figure female gamers could identify with.

Whether »Tomb Raider I-III Remastered« will also work in 2024 depends on the ability of the developers to update controlling and the movement of the camera. What was good enough in the 90s cannot keep up with modern standards. Issues in movement and strange behavior of the camera were once considered reasonable due to the technical difficulty, but excuses like that will not be accepted by gamers nowadays. But if the developers did their homework, it could be alluring to stroll through the ruins of lost temples and be on the lookout for cursed artifacts once again. 

»Tomb Raider I-III Remastered« is available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Microsoft Windows.

Today the new superhero film »Madame Web« is hitting theaters. As you can probably guess, it's a spin-off from Sony's Spider-Man universe, in which actress Dakota Johnson plays a clairvoyant mutant.

The plot is about an emergency paramedic called Cassandra Webb, who has to deal with her visionary powers. It gets worse as she's forced to face her past. Special events strengthen her connection to three young women, with whom she has to fight against a dangerous villain.

He truly doesn’t look very nice, but definitely badass! The X-Men member was staged in his Ronin form by Nikki for our postcard in February 🤩. He used a figure by Mezco Toys which he customized, including the paint job on the head. The result is this wonderful card. Even Wolverine himself is amazed 😉.

The 58th Super Bowl took place yesterday at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada and, as always, the football event was an absolute media spectacle. In the final game of the 2023 NFL season, the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs played against the San Francisco 49ers. Before kickoff, the show opened with some musical acts. First, musician Post Malone and soul singer Andra Day performed "America the Beautiful" and "Lift Every Voice and Sing" before country legend Reba McEntire performed the US national anthem.

The game got off to an exciting start right after kickoff, but in the end the 49ers dominated the first half and deservedly led 10:3 at halftime.

To sweeten the half-time break for the spectators, there was of course a big musical show. This time, R&B icon Usher had the honor to be on stage. In an impressive 13-minute show full of dancers, acrobats, outfit changes and a roller-skating dance routine, the singer performed his greatest hits and also brought some of his musician colleagues on stage for guest appearances. Included were Alicia Keys, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon and Ludacris.

The second half of the game was definitely tough and had a few twists and turns. The Chiefs equalized just a few seconds before the end of regular playing time. The game went into overtime and after a spectacular showdown, the Chiefs were actually able to win the game 25:22. Congratulations!

Of course, film studios also take advantage of the media hype surrounding the Super Bowl and this year it brought with it a load of trailers that some of us were probably already looking forward to. A few absolute highlights make the wait for the release date almost unbearable within seconds.

Marvel Studios released the long-awaited trailer for the third part of DEADPOOL. Action-packed scenes and extremely charming humor once again characterize the anti-hero, who is played by Ryan Reynolds. But with him comes the X-Men favorite Wolverine, played of course by Hugh Jackman. We are really excited about this combination!

Another Ryan turns the film world upside down, because there are crisp insights in the trailer for THE FALL GUY. Ryan Gosling fights his way through life as a stuntman, with Emily Blunt close by his side. The trailer not only promises action, but also lots of laughs and drama.

If you like disaster movies, you can look forward to the film TWISTERS. This is the sequel to TWISTER, which was shown on the big screen in 1996. In the trailer, actors Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, as storm chasers, more or less voluntarily take on storms and even tornadoes.

We were particularly enchanted by the trailer for WICKED, an adaptation of the world-famous Broadway musical. Impressive images await us in the trailers for KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES and A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE. With KNUCKLES, the hedgehog of the same name from the Sonic universe comes to the fore. Further animation highlights include KUNG FU PANDA 4 and INSIDE OUT 2 as well as IF with Ryan Reynolds. Disney fans can look forward to the second part of MOANA, while DESPICABLE ME 4 was also announced with an amusing trailer. Yesterday, Paramount released the first trailer for »A Quiet Place: Day One«. As the name suggests, it’s a prequel to »A Quiet Place« from 2018 and »A Quiet Place Part II« from 2020 - two films that were as thrilling as they were successful.

This film takes us back to the beginning of the invasion by the sound-sensitive aliens. The trailer, which highlights the attack on New York effectively and, above all, loudly, definitely makes us curious to see more:

At the center of this sequence is the great Lupita Nyong'o (»Us«, »Black Panther«). Djimon Hounsou, who was already there in part 2, is also on board again in the prequel. The trailer shows John Krasinski and Emily Blunt at the beginning in a small countdown, but they don't seem to be part of the new movie’s plot, at least the IMDb doesn't mention them in the credits yet. We can definitely imagine a cameo at the end, though, to close the circle.

Unlike for its predecessors, this time it is not John Krasinski who is in the director's chair, but rather Michael Sarnoski, who previously received some laurels for his directing work on »Pig«. We hope that »A Quiet Place: Day One« can maintain the quality level. We will see it for ourselves in the cinema at the end of June. Have you seen the first two films? ... keeps pushing his way in front of the camera and infuriating the reporters, because this pushy guy with a two-finger beard and bowler hat ruins their footage of the soapbox race in Venice, California.

You've probably already recognized him. It's none other than Charlie Chaplin in the 6 ½ minute short film »Kid Auto Races at Venice«, which premiered exactly 110 years ago today.

Chaplin had signed a contract with Mack Sennett's Keystone Film Company and this was his second appearance in a film. He previously appeared in the 13-minute one-act play »Making a Living«. There he wore a frock coat with a top hat, mustache and monocle. Chaplin was anything but satisfied with this appearance and he developed a new character for his next film. And thus, the Tramp was born. The rest is history. Chaplin became cinema's first global star and his Tramp its most iconic figure.

His first long feature film »The Kid« (1921) with the then four-year-old Jackie Coogan became a milestone, which was followed by masterpieces such as »The Gold Rush« (1925) and »The Circus« (1928). The introduction of sound films then became a serious threat to the Tramp. Chaplin said that he only works as a silent figure. And so he dared to make another successful silent film with »City Lights « in 1931. In 1936, when sound films had long been established, »Modern Times« remained silent, but worked with music and sound effects. In the end the Tramp sings a song in a nonsense language, because his art needs no words.

The last time Chaplin appeared in the tramp costume was in 1940 as a Jewish barber in »The Great Dictator«, in which he also played the dictator Hynkel. The film ends with the famous humanist appeal. And it is not the little barber but Chaplin himself who addresses his message to the audience.

Today we have an entertaining streaming tip for you. Disney+ currently has the Hulu series »The Artful Dodger« in its program.

The series takes us to Australia in the 1850s, where we meet Jack 'Dodger' Dawkins, a former London pickpocket. After having escaped from prison, he worked on a Royal Navy ship as an assistant to the ship's doctor. With his talent and skillful fingers, he quickly mastered the surgeon's craft. At the start of the show he works in the hospital in the Port Victory colony. With the arrival of Fagin, an old criminal companion, Dodger is lured back into the world of crime ...

The charming Dr. Jack Dawkins is played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who you might remember as the little drummer in »Love Actually« or as Jojen Reed in »Game of Thrones«.

If the role names ring a bell for you, you're on the right track, because in this show characters from Charles Dickens' novel »Oliver Twist« are retold with relish and irreverence and woven into a fast-paced mixture with lots of black humor - sometimes a heist story, sometimes a drama about life and death in the operating room, sometimes a love story with quick-witted dialogue, many twists and a rocking soundtrack. The eight-part series is easy to digest and a lot of fun - just right for relaxing on the sofa after work.

The first trailer in September already aroused our curiosity for »Argylle«. Now it's finally time - the spy thriller is hitting the big screens!

Elly Conway, author of a successfull book series about the secret agent Argylle, lives a relaxed, reclusive life with her cat. However, when the plot of her novels seem to overlap with real-life espionage operations, Elly is caught in the cross fire between crime sydicates and intelligence apparatuses.

The film shines with a star-studded cast, including Henry Cavill as the titular agent, Sam Rockwell as a spy, Bryan Cranston as an evil intelligence boss and Bryce Dallas Howard as the "fish out of water", Elly. And director Matthew Vaughn already proved with »Kingsman: The Secret Service« that he knows how to make a spy movie.

We are definitely excited to see »Argylle«! By the way, those who'd rather watch it at home can expect the film to be released on Apple TV+ in the near future.

Our 💥 product of the month 💥 in February comes from the South Korean manufacturer Blitzway, who, after the 1/6 scale figure of Kurt Cobain, is now also dedicating a 1/4 mixed media superb scale statue to the exceptional musician. We are very happy about this fantastic statue, which is based on the legendary »Nirvana« MTV Unplugged concert from 1993.

It brings back memories of a time when »Nirvana« provided the soundtrack to our wild years, especially with the »Nevermind« album and songs like »Smells Like Teen Spirit«. Memories come back to mind: long journeys in a rickety, red R4 with a »Nirvana« tape always spinning in the cassette recorder, the volume turned all the way up. »Nirvana« was more than just a band back then, it was a statement. It was a way of life.

Kurt Cobain became the grunge icon that the sensitive musician himself never wanted to be. His suicide the year after the MTV Unplugged concert and his entry into the Club 27 shocked us at the time. We had lost the voice of our generation and it felt like a good friend had left us. He lives on in our hearts.

We don't know whether Kurt himself would have been happy about his statue. Maybe he's sitting on a cloud with Jimi Hendrix and the two are arguing about for whom Blitzway made the coolest collectible. For us, the Kurt Cobain statue is a piece of living history (including our own). And when we look at the video of his MTV Unplugged appearance we get goosebumps at the astonishing precision with which Blitzway created this monument. Everything is right, from the sneakers to the pickup of his Martin D-18E acoustic-electric guitar, the plectrum between his fingers and the unpretentious office chair he’s sitting on. A fantastic work of art and a more than worthy product of the month!

If you are into exceptional and memorable movies we have an idea for you. Some German cities will host the Fantasy Filmfest White Nights. Last weekend it started in Berlin and Hamburg. For sure a highlight of the festival!

»Hundreds of Beavers« (USA 2022)
Trapper Jean Kayak fights an army of dangerous beavers and other animals. »Hundreds of Beavers« seems to be the strangest movie shown at the festival. The live-action movie is strongly inspired by the style of classical cartoon movies and offers a whole lot of animals portrayed by actors in furry suits.

»When Evil Lurks« (Argentina 2023)
Director Demián Rugna is on his way to becoming a big name in horror. After »Terrified« which was well-received by horror fans, we can now witness his next step on the road to success. And according to some critiques, »When Evil Lurks« is a worthy addition to the genre. The movie deals with dark topics like possession and religious fanaticism while celebrating different facets of visual violence.

What movie would you like to see ;)?

Today we have a series tip for you. And this one doesn't lead us to the usual streaming suspects, but to the ARD media library. You heard right! Real treasures can also be discovered on public broadcasts. Our TV tax was well spent on the 8-part »Oderbruch« series.

The first scene already makes it clear that we are not in Kansas anymore and this is definitely not a »Tatort« Krimi. The story, directed by »Sløborn« creators Christian Alvart and Adolfo J. Kolmerer, begins with a whole mountain of corpses and animal cadavers. The German inspector Roland Voit (Felix Kramer) is sent to his home village of Krewlow as a local to investigate with his Polish colleague Stanisław Zajak (Lucas Gregorowicz). The former police officer and Roland Voit's childhood sweetheart Magdalena “Maggie” Kring (Karoline Schuch) also returns to this place from her past and investigates out of private interest.

The series cleverly links historical events from the Oderbruch, such as the Battle of the Seelow Heights in World War II and the Oder flood catastrophe of 1997, with the plot. Maggie's brother Kai (Julius Gause) supposedly died in the flooding. Maggie's memories flash back again and again and throw spotlights on the events of that time. The puzzle slowly comes together and in the fourth episode there is a revelation that takes us into completely different genre realms ...

»Oderbruch« has exciting story-telling, great acting and superb cinematography - a refreshingly dark series that goes beyond the usual old comedy and crime stories for which Germany's film and television landscape is otherwise so notorious. A clear recommendation from us!
