In 2013, James Wan awoke the haunted house genre from its slumber with »The Conjuring« and showed that cleverly used jump scares can also give you goosebumps. The story based on "true events" about the demonologists Lorraine and Ed Warren, embodied by Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, then also established, as is so popular these days, an entire cinematic universe that now sees the release of its 9th movie with »The Nun II«. But let’s wait and see - »Annabelle: Creation« was also significantly better than »Annabelle«...
Whatever one's take on the »Conjurverse«, one has to concede that this series has created some highly recognizable creatures. Above all, the possessed doll Annabelle and the demon Valak, better known as the eponymous nun.
