26.05.2023 • THIS IS A FIGHT FOR OUR VERY EXISTENCE
A few days ago, 20th Century Studios released a first teaser trailer for their latest sci-fi spectacle: »The Creator«!

The film takes place in a future where a war is raging between humans and artificial intelligence. What was originally intended to help people has become their greatest enemy. Ex-agent Joshua (John David Washington) is assigned to hunt down the creator of the AI, who has developed a weapon that could not only put an end to the war, but also to the entire human race.

Artificial intelligence is a huge topic of discussion - and not just recently. With every supposed progress, more and more questions about the ethical implications of its chances and dangers arise - questions that films like »Blade Runner« or »Ex Machina« have already asked and that »The Creator« also deals with. In addition, the teaser lures with an epic atmosphere and visually impressive action sequences:

The film is going to hit cinemas at the end of September. We are excited - and you?

24.05.2023 • SUCKS TO BE HIM
The Dracula fans among you have surely marked tomorrow in their calendars because it’s finally time: »Renfield« is hitting the German cinemas!

The film is loosely based on the tale of the blood-sucking count and his servant from Bram Stoker’s novel and is meant to continue the 1931 adaptation. The modern comedy horror tale tells the story of Renfield (Nicholas Hoult), the longsuffering assistant of Dracula (Nicolas Cage), who is forced to procure victims for his master and follow his orders. After decades of servitude he is fed up and wants to break out of this toxic relationship - no easy task when your boss is the prince of darkness. Fortunately he is helped by traffic cop Rebecca (Awkwafina).

While critics’ reviews of the film have been overwhelmingly mediocre, there are quite a few enthusiastic voices as well. Friends of vampire tales should get their money’s worth because »Renfield« picks up many aspects of the known Dracula lore and delivers action sequences with plenty of gore on top. Praise went to Nicolas Cage’s performance, whose fans can expect to see his beloved and entertaining overacting as well as his chemistry with Nicholas Hoult, who plays the intimidated servant in his familiar charming and likable fashion.

You can watch the trailer here:

Are you excited for the film?
22.05.2023 • IT'S IN OUR BLOOD: MORTAL KOMBAT 1
NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have enchanted all beat 'em up fans with a fantastic announcement: MORTAL KOMBAT enters its next round!

With »Mortal Kombat 1« the bloody tournament for life and death shall continue - the release is planned for the 19th of September this year.

The first, really epic and very bloody trailer definitely leaves you wanting more - but see for yourself:
https://youtu.be/UZ6eFEjFfJ0

According to Ed Boon, programmer of NetherRealm Studios, the game is not a sequel to »Mortal Kombat 11«, but rather a new timeline in which the characters will have completely new roles - a new beginning in a new universe, so to speak.

What do you think of this new direction for the MK universe? And above all: are you up for it?
19.05.2023 • S.P.A.C.E POSTCARD COLLECTION MAY 2023
May is all about STAR WARS! So of course, this month's postcard comes from a galaxy far, far away - from The Netherlands, to be precise. That's where Niels (@toys4life88) shot this wonderful motif for us, which features Paz Vizsla, The Armorer and Din Djarin from Hasbro. The result is a super cool card with a shiny metallic look, hand-forged from pure Beskar!

As always, we introduced Niels and the new postcard in our show ABGESPACED - this time it was our 30th anniversary 🥳.

So dank je wel, Niels! And if you guys want a copy of the card, all you need to do is order a package from us this May 😉.
17.05.2023 • THE GOOD OLD FAMILY
With »Fast X« one of the most famous film franchises is returning to the big screen! In the penultimate installment of the series, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) is haunted by the past: Dante (Jason Momoa), the son of Hernan Reyes whom Dom and his crew took down 12 years ago in »Fast Five«, is seeking revenge - and targets Dom's family. Together with the previous »Fast & Furious 9« and the pending eleventh part, this film forms the finale of the franchise.

Besides the well-known faces, a few news additions like Brie Larson and Rita Moreno are included this time.

It remains to be seen whether »Fast X« will recover after the clearly weakening last parts. We certainly shouldn't expect a masterpiece of cinematic art, but the series is known more for action than for clever stories anyway. If you can believe the final trailer, there is definitely no lack of it:

Are you in the mood for the film?
16.05.2023 • THE TARDIS LANDS AGAIN
There is exciting news for Whovians: the cult series about the time-travelling Doctor turns 60 this year, because the first episode was broadcast on the BBC in 1963, back then with William Hartnell in the title role. To celebrate this anniversary, there will be a special later this year, the trailer for which was released by the BBC on the official Doctor Who YouTube channel last weekend. It stars David Tennant, who portrayed the tenth Doctor and now succeeds Jodie Whittaker as the character's fourteenth regeneration, and Catherine Tate, who returns as his companion Donna Noble. And after the teaser trailer already gave us a first taste of the special a few months ago, the titles of the three episodes have now also been revealed in the new trailer: »The Star Beast«, »Wild Blue Yonder« and »The Giggle«:
https://youtu.be/CpHEh5ZnQMo

It seems we can look forward to aliens, Neil Patrick Harris as a villain, and David Tennant and Catherine Tate as the unbeatable duo before they hand over their roles to Ncuti Gatwa and Millie Gibson. Outside the UK and Ireland, where Doctor Who airs on the BBC, the series will be available to stream on Disney+ from November.
15.05.2023 • ARNOLD IN A TWIN PACK
Schwarzenegger fans who have not yet had a NETFLIX subscription will no longer be able to avoid it ;). Two Arnold highlights will soon be available on the streaming service:

On May 25th, »Fubar«, an 8-part series, will be released in which the action legend plays a retired CIA agent who is hired for one last assignment and discovers a secret about his own family.
https://youtu.be/f6A56zcGeWE

At the beginning of June we can look forward to the 3-part documentary series »Arnold«. It retrospectively tells the story of Schwarzenegger's life and career - from a bodybuilding champion to Hollywood and politics.
https://youtu.be/x2AEI26LBpA

So for the next few weeks we can give ourselves the full Arnold bang - and a pinch of Conan or the Terminator always works ;)!
12.05.2023 • ZELDA - TEARS OF THE KINGDOM
Today we can celebrate the release of one of the gaming highlights in 2023: »Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom«, the successor of the fantastic »Breath of the Wild«!

Hyrule falls into chaos once again. Ganondorf causes trouble and the princess also lost again. We don't know much more details about the story. At least when you have denied any contact with the recent leak. And you should definitely not spoil yourself as the magic of the game should be discovered without too many impressions in advance.

It seems like Nintendo will keep up the formula they once established with »Breath of the Wild«. For not a few this was without question the perfect game. So we can expect to get a game that will be similair to the predecessor but obviously with a few additions that raise the bar.

The biggest challenge for Zelda players in the coming days will probably be time management. Quite a few have already invested 100-150 hours or even more in the predecessor. So let's go again, with »Zelda - Tears of the Kingdom«!
11.05.2023 • THE STORY OF ME, TAKE 2!
For all movie lovers (and of course all »Back to the Future« fans) who have an Apple TV+ subscription, there's a very special documentary highlight starting tomorrow: »STILL: A Michael J. Fox Movie«

We instantly got hooked by the trailer:
https://youtu.be/yHgMSR4F1Ak

Apple published the following synopsis:
The film, which incorporates documentary, archival and scripted elements, recounts Fox’s extraordinary story in his own words - the improbable tale of an undersized kid from a Canadian army base who rose to the heights of stardom in 1980s Hollywood. The account of Fox’s public life, full of nostalgic thrills and cinematic gloss, unspools alongside his never-before-seen private journey, including the years that followed his diagnosis, at 29, with Parkinson’s disease. Intimate and honest, and produced with unprecedented access to Fox and his family, the film chronicles Fox’s personal and professional triumphs and travails, and explores what happens when an incurable optimist confronts an incurable disease. With a mix of adventure and romance, comedy and drama, watching »STILL« feels like … well, like a Michael J. Fox movie.
10.05.2023 • THE MUPPETS MAYHEM
THE MUPPETS MAYHEM series starts today on Disney+ and celebrates a reunion with the legendary Muppets rock band »The Electric Mayhem«.

Dr Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot and Lips have been rocking for 45 years and have never recorded a studio album. That is about to change when young music producer Nora (Lilly Singh) finds an old contract and realizes that the band still owes their seedy label an album...

We're in for a wild and chaotic ride through today's music landscape, and in true Muppet tradition, there are plenty of celebrity guest appearances from Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Kevin Smith, Paula Abdul, Tommy Lee Weird Al Yankovic and many more.

Alright, let's rock! :
https://youtu.be/HhP4QiK8GzA

The Muppet Show (1976-1981), featuring Jim Henson and Frank Oz puppets, is a piece of (pop) cultural history and part of our fondest childhood memories. No question, we'll watch the 10 episodes of the Mayhem series and hope that Disney's program won't be too well-behaved and harmless and that the band's anarchic humor will shine through. But what can go wrong when Animal is behind the drums?

It is also quite possible that the new series will provide supplies in our Muppets department again. A fat The Electric Mayhem set with the band would be more than appropriate 😃...
08.05.2023 • ASTEROID CITY
The first picture already makes it clear, we are in the bizarre world of Wes Anderson.

Asteroid City, somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the 1950s. The Junior Stargazer program gets a last-minute update when an extraterrestrial life form comes to visit the town. Does the alien bring a message from the universe or does it even have answers to existential questions?

What sounds like an Oscars attendance list, is actually the cast:
Jason Schwartzman, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hanks, Jeffrey Wright, Tilda Swinton, Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton, Adrien Brody, Liev Schreiber, Hope Davis, Stephen Park, Rupert Friend, Maya Hawke, Steve Carell, Matt Dillon, Hong Chau, Willem Dafoe, Margot Robbie, Tony Revolori, Jake Ryan and Jeff Goldblum.

Here's the trailer for the film, which Universal Pictures expects to hit theaters on June 15th:

05.05.2023 • THE ITALIAN WHO INVENTED AMERICA
Perfectly in time for the weekend, we have an interesting documentary tip for you: On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his death, Sky / WOW pays tribute to the great Sergio Leone with the documentary »Sergio Leone: The Italian Who Invented America«.

At the beginning of the 1960s, the Western was no longer a big deal. Salvation came from Italy! Sergio Leone gave the ailing genre a makeover with »A Fistful of Dollars«, invented the subgenre of the Spaghetti Western and enriched the film language with his inimitable way of telling his stories.

The documentary features film clips, archive footage, behind-the-scenes footage, and interviews with family, companions, and filmmakers who have been significantly influenced by Leone's art, including Dario Argento, Clint Eastwood, Ennio Morricone, Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, Damien Chazelle, Frank Miller and Robert De Niro.

This will certainly make you want to watch some of Sergio Leone's movies - and then probably want to browse through our Western section 🤠.

»Sergio Leone: The Italian Who Invented America« launches tonight at 8:15 p.m. on Sky Documentaries and on demand.

03.05.2023 • ONCE MORE WITH FEELING.
»Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3« starts hitting cinemas everywhere today! This is by far the Marvel film we've been looking forward to the most lately, especially after a rather weak phase 4. And the majority of YouTube film reviewers are also enthusiastic.

So we are looking forward to funny and emotional moments and have our handkerchiefs ready. It's not only the Guardians' farewell performance, but also that of James Gunn, who has meanwhile switched from Marvel to DC. We look forward to seeing Gunn pull out all the stops again in his trilogy. So off to the movies!
02.05.2023 • THREEZERO IN TOKYO
Last weekend, the Asian manufacturer threezero held a two-day exhibition of their current program in Tokyo. In addition, there were panels and autograph sessions with artists and star guests.

As to be expected from the Tokyo location, the focus of the exhibition was on products from the manga/anime world. From the area of popular TV series there were only a few »The Walking Dead« figures and from »Stranger Things« Will Beyers and Mike Wheeler in 1/6 scale. Netflix recently released new posters for the series with the tagline: "Every Ending Has A Beginning". A couple of new announcements by threezero would have fitted in well with this. Will the manufacturer implement a Season 5 update for our heroes?

After the great success of the HBO series »The Last of Us«, the topic is noticeably in the air. We had already suspected that threezero would grab the license here, because in the past they often had a knack for licenses for popular TV series. And with their »The Walking Dead« figures, they have the expertise for dystopian scenarios and through the big »Game of Thrones« series, they are probably also well known with HBO. So, a not entirely unreasonable speculation. But who knows, San Diego Comic Con is not so far away anymore ...
01.05.2023 • PRODUCT OF THE MONTH MAY 2023
It's the year 1982 - the British heavy metal band IRON MAIDEN releases their third studio album »The Number of the Beast« the world public, especially in the USA, was outraged!

The album was a commercial success, but it also started a controversy. Because of the lyrics and the - well, let's say - "very special" album cover, the work was controversial. The cover features the band's mascot Eddie holding satan as a puppet on a string.

Nowadays we see it all way more relaxed. A lot - especially stuff from the 80's - became cult. The legendary cover artworks by Iron Maiden around Eddie definately did. That's probably why the manufacturer KNUCKLEBONZ produced the album cover as a 3D vinyl statue - surely a tribute to Iron Maiden and a great collectible for hardcore fans!

That's why we decided to put the THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST 3D VINYL COVER STATUE on our (devil's) throne. Our product of the month May 2023 is limited to 1982 pieces and will be available from stock in just a few days 😃!

Six six six, the number of the beast 🤘.
Hell and fire was spawned to be released 😈!

28.04.2023 • STAR WARS JEDI: SURVIVOR
In 2019, we went on an adventurous journey through the galaxy together with Padawan Cal Kestis (portrayed by Cameron Monaghan) in the game »Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order«, which was developed by Respawn Entertainment as a third-person-action-adventure and published by EA. It is considered one of the best Star Wars games so far.

Today its sequel »Star Wars Jedi: Survivor« is launched! So we’ll be able to step into Cal Kestis’ shoes again. We are super excited to see how the story will continue and can barely wait for tonight. Surely we can expect a game with addiction potential - the next sick note is already waiting for us at the doctor's office 😇. But shhh: please don't tell our boss 😆!
