29.07.2025 • YOUR GODDESS HAS NO DOMINION HERE
The wait is over – the trailer for »Avatar: Fire and Ash« is here! It was originally supposed to premiere in theaters in front of the new film »Fantastic Four: First Steps«, but was leaked online a few days earlier. Now we can finally see it officially, without the need for a movie ticket:
https://youtu.be/nb_fFj_0rq8

The epically staged trailer gives us a first look at the two new Na'vi tribes that the film will introduce us to. While in Part 2 we dove into the underwater world of the Metkayina, here we not only get to know the Wind Traders, but also, and most importantly, the eponymous Ash people, whose leader Varang (Oona Chaplin) has allied herself with Quaritch. And so our protagonists, Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), are heading into a major war ...

We can probably expect what we'd expect from an »Avatar« film from the third installment of James Cameron's sci-fi epic: impressive visuals, action-packed conflicts, and powerful emotions. The trailer is currently experiencing huge hype and is stoking our anticipation for the film's release in theaters this December. Do you feel the same way?
25.07.2025 • OF REBELS AND MECHATRONIC PIZZERIA MASCOTS
So many film announcements and trailers are dropping right now that we can barely keep up with our news updates. Still, we wouldn't want to keep these from you – especially when we're talking about heavy hitters like the second »Five Nights at Freddy's« installment or the new Paul Thomas Anderson action thriller »One Battle After Another«.

The second chapter of the hugely successful Blumhouse horror video game adaptation »Five Nights at Freddy's« is set to hit cinemas in early December.
The newly released trailer shows Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio) trying to return to their normal lives after the events of the first film.
Abby, in particular, is struggling – she misses her mechatronic friends around Freddy Fazbear. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers (including »Ghostbusters: Afterlife« star Mckenna Grace) bring the animatronic puppets back to life, and the murderous haunting begins all over again – this time, even outside the infamous pizzeria. Watch the creepy trailer for »Five Nights at Freddy's 2« here:
https://youtu.be/dSDpoobO6yM

The first trailer for »One Battle After Another«, released a few months ago, already caught our full attention – it looked like a raw, timely and emotionally charged action thriller, featuring an unpredictable and larger-than-life Leonardo DiCaprio.
The story of the rebel group “French 75” is beginning to take shape with this second trailer – and it's seriously ramping up our excitement for September, when the film is scheduled to hit cinemas.
With moments of dark comedy and brutal violence, this trailer feels like a wild blend of »Narcos«, »Rambo« and »Che« (which probably has a lot to do with Benicio del Toro's presence).
We've already marked the date in our calendars – and here's the trailer for you to get hyped as well:

24.07.2025 • TWO VERY DIFFERENT ENDS OF THE WORLD – TODAY'S FILM STARTS
People tend to forget that, aside from his horror roots, Stephen King also provided the source material for some of the finest film dramas in recent cinema history – such as »The Green Mile«, »Stand by Me« or »The Shawshank Redemption«. And today, the next film in that tradition hits theaters.
Based on a short story from the anthology »If It Bleeds«, director Mike Flanagan (»Doctor Sleep«) brings Tom Hiddleston to the screen as Charles “Chuck” Krantz – a man whose life and passion for dance seem deeply connected to the end of the world.

Critics are raving about the film, calling it one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever made. But in the US, where it has been showing since early June, the film completely flopped and fell far, far short of expectations.
This has been attributed, among other things, to a confusing marketing campaign. For example, the trailer leaves out the supernatural elements and the cleverly reversed narrative structure, focusing solely on the dance aspects – something audiences didn't associate with the Stephen King brand at all.
The release date, wedged between blockbusters like »Mission: Impossible« and »Jurassic World«, didn't help either – and now the same fate may be looming over the German release, which finds itself squeezed between »Superman« and »Fantastic Four«.

Still, we're incredibly curious and definitely want to see it. The cast alone is fantastic, with Tom Hiddleston joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor (»12 Years a Slave«), Karen Gillan (»Guardians of the Galaxy«), Q'orianka Kilcher (»The New World«), Mark Hamill (»Star Wars«) and Mia Sara (»Timecop«).
How about you – will you be heading to the cinema?

Watch the final trailer here:
https://youtu.be/jlN1Mmj6YNo

The biggest competition at the box office today might come from the second release we've got for you: MCU film no. 37 officially kicks off Phase 6 of the biggest cinematic franchise of all time. And at last, Marvel's First Family joins the MCU!
Vanessa Kirby (»The Crown«), Pedro Pascal (»The Last of Us«), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (»The Bear«), and Joseph Quinn (»Stranger Things«) star in »The Fantastic Four: First Steps«, taking on Ralph Ineson (»Harry Potter«) as the planet-devouring Galactus.

The film is set in a retrofuturistic parallel world strongly reminiscent of the 1960s comic books – a striking contrast to the last two versions of these four superheroes, both of which leaned more into early 2000s and 2010s Young Adult trends.

Following »Thunderbolts*«, excitement for the next big Avengers movie was already sky-high – and »The Fantastic Four: First Steps« is set to lead directly into »Avengers: Doomsday«.
If the film delivers on its promise, this could mark a true turning point for the Marvel Universe.

Here's the final trailer:

23.07.2025 • ROCK IN PEACE, PRINCE OF DARKNESS
Three weeks ago, Ozzy Osbourne bid farewell to the big rock stage in front of 40,000 fans in his hometown of Birmingham. It was a final, moving moment between a man and his music. Just a few days later, he boarded the »Crazy Train« to Heavy Metal heaven and joined Lemmy and Dio, and we must now say our final goodbye to him as well.

Thank you, Ozzy. For your music. For your courage. For your legacy.

22.07.2025 • FIRST HUNT. LAST CHANCE.
A few hours ago, 20th Century Studios released a brand-new trailer for »Predator: Badlands« – and it's a blast:
https://youtu.be/43R9l7EkJwE

From the very first second, the new clip presents a visually striking, dark, action-packed adventure with unusual heroes – and lays the groundwork for a potential new era in the Alien/Predator universe. The exciting alliance between the young Predator Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), exiled from the clan, and the android Thia (Elle Fanning), created by Weyland-Yutani, will hopefully be a breath of fresh air into the franchise — and perhaps into your collection as well. Let's imagine the 1/6 Hot Toys figures of the two main characters ;).

»Predator: Badlands« is scheduled to hit cinemas in early November 2025.
21.07.2025 • NEW TRAILERS
A few days ago, Warner Bros. released the first trailer for »Mortal Kombat II«. This is the fourth live-action film based on the video game of the same name and the sequel to the 2021 film. Simon McQuoid once again sat in the director's chair. A number of actors, including the highly acclaimed Hiroyuki Sanada (»Shōgun«), are reprising their roles from the first film. One newcomer who catches our attention is Karl Urban (»The Boys«) as the somewhat down-and-out former action star Johnny Cage. Was he accidentally chosen for the Mortal Kombat fights because someone took his old action flicks at face value, or is there perhaps more to it? The whole thing looks like high-class trash – we're cautiously optimistic. The expected release date is in late October. Here's the trailer:
https://youtu.be/a9pHkX7c3y8

The second trailer for the FX series »Alien: Earth« was released just in time for the weekend, and like the previous teasers and trailers, it once again looks extremely appealing. The series is a prequel to 1979's »Alien« and takes place two years before the events on the Nostromo. The series sets foot on Earth for the first time, giving us the opportunity to delve deeper into the lore and learn more about the five powerful corporations that rule the world – Weyland-Yutani, Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold.
The research vessel USCSS Maginot crashes in Prodigy City. The protagonist, Wendy (played by Sydney Chandler) is a hybrid, a robot with human consciousness. She's the first of her kind. Together with a special unit, she's sent on a rescue and recovery mission ...
Sounds quite promising, and it looks like it too:
https://youtu.be/FqIi3N9dusk
The series premieres on August 13th on Disney+.
18.07.2025 • WAITING FOR EDDINGTON
Today, Ari Aster's new film »Eddington« opens in US theaters. The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters in Germany yesterday, but the German distributor Leonine Distribution has unfortunately postponed its release to November 20th, which means a long dry spell for all Ari Aster fans. »Eddington« is the director's fourth work after »Hereditary«, »Midsommar« and »Beau Is Afraid«. Aster himself describes it as a "black Western noir comedy." The star-studded cast includes Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Pedro Pascal, and Austin Butler.

In May 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, a standoff between the sheriff and the mayor of Eddington, New Mexico, ignites a conflagration, pitting neighbor against neighbor. Ari Aster takes aim in all directions – both conspiracy theorists and self-righteous white activists get their fair share.

This is certainly not a film for everyone. Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer currently displays a critics score of 67%. Slant Magazine writes: "Eddington is especially pointed in the way that it views our online connectedness as a social cancer rather than an engine for progress." IGN Movies, on the other hand, is less impressed, saying: "Eddington's satire is no deeper than a kiddie pool." These two examples make it clear that »Eddington« is a film that divides opinions.
18.07.2025 • TRON: ARES
BOOM! Disney dropped the trailer for »Tron: Ares« on us as a bedtime treat yesterday ... and wow, it really hits hard!
https://youtu.be/YShVEXb7-ic

Since the first teaser back in April, the excitement has been building. Now the first full trailer shows us what Disney really has in store for us with »Tron: Ares«: a dark atmosphere, iconic neon visuals, and a much more serious tone. But above all: Jared Leto as Ares makes an incredibly strong impression. Leto seems made for the role of the digital warrior crossing over from the Grid into our world – cool, controlled, but with an electrifying presence.

Also featured is Jeff Bridges, who apparently reprises his central role as Kevin Flynn – raising questions we definitely want answered. The whole thing is moodily underscored by »As Alive As You Need Me To Be« by Nine Inch Nails. Wow, it really builds excitement for October 10th, when the new Tron sequel hits theaters!

Definitely makes us wish for some Hot Toys collectibles to go along with it! :)
17.07.2025 • I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER
Wherever we look: sequels, prequels, reboots – franchises everywhere!

In recent years, Hollywood has repeatedly delved deep into the nostalgia box. »Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice« – 36 years after the original. »Ghostbusters: Afterlife« – 32 years after »Ghostbusters II«, »Final Destination: Bloodlines« – 25 years after the first and 14 years after the last film. »28 Years Later« – 23 years after the original and 18 years after the sequel. Today, »I Know What You Did Last Summer« opens in cinemas – 28 years after the first film.

The 1997 original owes its existence solely to the huge success of »Scream« a year earlier. This film was a breath of fresh air and revitalized the long-since dead slasher genre, adding the fun of the meta level. Teen slashers were back, and films like »I Know What You Did Last Summer«, »Urban Legend« and »Cherry Falls« flooded cinemas.

»Scream« creator Wes Craven himself directed three sequels to his hit film. Then »Scream« was released in 2022 – 26 years after the original and 11 years after the fourth installment. As with »Halloween« (2018) – 40 years after the Carpenter original, the number was omitted from the title. »Scream« (2022), in its self-admiration, popularized the concept of legacy characters: characters who appeared in the original are back, passing the baton to a new generation of young actors. »Halloween« also did this with the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode.

»I Know What You Did Last Summer« (again, with the same title as the original) follows a similar path, telling more or less the same story and bringing back the legacy characters of Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. Perhaps the script will even find a way to include Sarah Michelle Gellar. Even after her character died in the original, we're not ruling out her appearance.

If we take off our nostalgia glasses for a moment, we have to admit that even the original was a mixed bag, with plot holes and a flawed script on the one hand, but also a few quite exciting moments. Incidentally, the one-year time jump turns out to be a clever device, showing how trauma changed the path of the guilt-ridden main characters. Take Helen Shivers, for example: The character played by Gellar was a beauty queen and dreamed of a great career as an actress. Now, after failing, she's back in the fishing village and joylessly working in her sister's shop. So, alongside all the genre clichés, a hint of depth also flashes up here and there.

We're quite excited to see what the sequel will bring. Will it just be more of the same or will it actually surprise us with new twists? Let's wait and see! On an optimistic note, we'd like to mention: »28 Years Later« certainly captivated us, we had a lot of fun with »Final Destination: Bloodlines«, and »Ghostbusters: Afterlife« was truly charming.

And the most encouraging thing is always the promising announcement of franchise-free, original films like »Bring Her Back«, »Together« or »Weapons«. With that in mind: long live cinema!
17.07.2025 • STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS
Today, the long-awaited third season of »Star Trek: Strange New Worlds« finally premieres on Paramount+. Many consider the show centered around Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the USS Enterprise – set before Captain Kirk took the helm in the original series – to be the best Star Trek show of the modern era.

Much of it recalls the franchise's origins: witty cultural misunderstandings, romantic entanglements aboard the Enterprise, sociopolitical debates mirroring our own world, episodic short stories, and a rich mix of genres from sitcom to political drama, space western, romance, and even the occasional touch of horror – all of it wrapped in a 1960s space-age aesthetic and the signature Star Trek sci-fi technobabble.

It's been almost two years since the cliffhanger at the end of season two – high time to find out what kinds of aliens with oddly specific human traits we'll meet this time. An early clip, released almost a year ago, already revealed that Pike, Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), and Nurse Chapel (Jess Bush) will transform into ACTUAL Vulcans – much to the dismay of our favorite HALF-Vulcan Spock (Ethan Peck):

17.07.2025 • I NEED YOU TO FIGHT ONE LAST TIME
Yesterday, Netflix released a long teaser for the fifth and final season of »Stranger Things«. And it's a real treat! We feel the tension, the approach of the inevitable, the anticipation of the final great confrontation. Every battle has led to this. On the soundtrack, »Child in Time« by Deep Purple fights its way forward, marching and congenial. We hold our breath. Find and kill Vecna!

Netflix wants to really savor the final chapter of the series and is splitting the season into three installments. The first four episodes drop on November 26th. It continues on Christmas Day, and the grand finale airs on New Year's Eve.

After this teaser, we're on edge and can hardly wait:

16.07.2025 • SOLO LEVELING AS A LIVE-ACTION SERIES
A few days ago, Netflix officially announced that it would take on the task of producing a live-action series based on the global hit »Solo Leveling«. The anime, which is based on the Korean manhwa of the same name by Chugong and currently consists of two seasons, has already achieved incredible success.

Lee Hae-jun and Kim Byung-seo will direct. They were responsible for the staging of »Ashfall« and »Castaway on the Moon«, for example. In the lead role of the legendary Sung Jin-woo, we will see Byeon Woo-seok, who has appeared in various K-Dramas such as »Lovely Runner«, »20th Century Girl« and »Record of Youth«. With this choice, many fans, who have long considered him the ideal actor for the role, have been very satisfied.

Do you think Netflix can create an adaptation that does justice to the manhwa and anime?
15.07.2025 • ERIKSHOLM: THE STOLEN DREAM
Today, a stealth game is being released that has already caused a positive surprise before its release, thus launching with extremely positive reviews. We're talking about the insider tip »Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream«, developed by River End Games for PlayStation 5, PC (Windows), and Xbox Series.

The Swedish development studio is celebrating its debut with this real-time stealth adventure, which, in addition to atmospheric levels that require tactics and ingenuity, also offers a gripping story. It's told in impressive graphics using motion capture, while the adventure itself takes place from a sky perspective. Check out the gameplay trailer:
https://youtu.be/0wF6gbPZCWg

»Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream« is about young Hanna, who is searching for her brother Herman. He is wanted by the police and his disappearance triggers a chain of events in Eriksholm that will complicate Hanna's adventures and change her life forever.
14.07.2025 • NEW TRAILERS
Here are three new trailers from the past few days – we can look forward to a new season, a miniseries, and a movie to watch!

Netflix released a long trailer for the second season of »Wednesday« a few days ago. We learn that Wednesday's roommate Enid Sinclair is in mortal danger. Saving her will likely be one of the main themes of the new episodes. Netflix is dividing the season into two parts again, with four episodes each. Part 1 starts on August 6th, Part 2 on September 3rd. Here's the trailer:
https://youtu.be/03u4xyj0TH4

The miniseries »Chief of War« by and starring Jason Momoa will premiere on Apple TV+ on August 1st. The nine-part series tells the story of the unification of the Hawaiian Islands. The four kingdoms are torn apart by bitter wars. Momoa plays the fearless warrior Ka'iana, who seeks to unite his people to save them from impending colonization. The trailer looks damn good, and we're expecting another quality series from Apple. See for yourself:
https://youtu.be/owdGcwufWK8

We've saved the biggest treat for last today. Here we meet our fantasy darling Red Sonja in a brand-new film. In »Red Sonja«, the fierce Amazon is played by Italian actress Matilda Lutz, who has already demonstrated her fighting qualities in Coralie Fargeat's »Revenge«. Looking at the poster, she seems like the ideal casting for Red Sonja. We know director M.J. Bassett from her work on »Ash vs. Evil Dead« and »Altered Carbon«, among others. Naturally, the trailer exudes a lot of trash appeal, which can be quite fun, and certainly makes us curious!
The film will be released in theaters in the US on August 15th, and will be available digitally on August 29th. There's no German release date yet, but we assume the film will land directly on a streaming site. Here's the trailer:
https://youtu.be/-Oqql6RErHc

We hope the film will be a success, as that would guarantee further additions to our Red Sonja section:
https://www.space-figuren.de/products_all.php?filter%5B2%5D%5B0%5D=478&language=en

Ms. Lutz in a Red Sonja chain mail bikini as a high-end statue or cool 1/6 scale figure would be what you'd call a "no brainer."
11.07.2025 • STREAMING TIPS
We've got a few streaming premieres for you that could provide some solid entertainment this weekend.

Let's start with an old acquaintance: the ever-popular serial killer Dexter Morgan! »Dexter: Resurrection« is the latest spin-off of the Dexter franchise. The original series ran from 2006 to 2013 and ended with a finale that disappointed many fans. »Dexter: New Blood« launched in 2021 with strong reviews but once again fell off at the end. Episode nine had an IMDb rating of 9.3 – but episode ten dropped to a disappointing 4.7. It ended with Dexter's (apparent) death. In the first episode of the prequel series »Dexter: Original Sin«, we learn that Dexter survived. The series then explores his early years, with Patrick Gibson now playing the title role. The first season is quite charming and worth watching, even if Gibson's performance doesn't quite match Michael C. Hall's portrayal. »Dexter: Resurrection« picks up where »Dexter: New Blood« left off. Dexter escapes to New York, and it seems the story will involve multiple serial killers. The cast includes Peter Dinklage and Uma Thurman as the most prominent new additions. We're cautiously optimistic and curious to see where Dexter's story goes in New York. The first two episodes are now streaming on Paramount+.

Over on Disney+, National Geographic and Amblin Entertainment are releasing »Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story« to mark the film's golden anniversary. Honestly, we feel like we've seen more documentaries about »Jaws« than any other movie. Is there really anything we don't know yet? Some anecdote we haven't heard before? But honestly, it doesn't matter – some stories we're always happy to hear again. We're looking forward to the memories shared by Steven Spielberg, John Williams, and other crew members. Colleagues like J.J. Abrams, Emily Blunt, James Cameron, Cameron Crowe, Guillermo del Toro, George Lucas, Jordan Peele, Steven Soderbergh, and Robert Zemeckis also reflect on their own encounters with this masterpiece. Even shark researchers will have their say. Because as much as we love the movie, it's hard to deny the unfortunate impact it's had on an entire species – a masterpiece of evolution that was sadly demonized.

Do you also feel like your watchlist just keeps growing and growing, and there's no way to keep up with all the must-see films and series? Today marks the start of season three of a show we've heard great things about but still haven't managed to watch: »Foundation«, based on the legendary sci-fi book series by Isaac Asimov. With season three now streaming on Apple TV+, we're finally moving it up a few spots on our list.

What's on your weekend watchlist?
10.07.2025 • SUPERMAN
After the teaser trailer's record-breaking over 250 million views in just 24 hours, James Gunn's Superman reboot is finally taking off. The clip became one of the most-watched and most-discussed trailers in the history of DC and Warner Bros. Now the Man of Steel is conquering cinemas at last – igniting a new DC firework. With a fresh cast, emotional depth, and a modern perspective on truth, justice, and hope, »Superman« heralds the official launch of the new DC Universe.

James Gunn, the creative mind behind »Guardians of the Galaxy« and »The Suicide Squad«, writes and directs this reboot with a clear vision. He retells the story of Clark Kent as a young man caught between two worlds, torn between his origins on the planet Krypton and his upbringing on Earth. But this Superman is more than just a superman: he is a seeker, a moral compass in a world in transition – and a hero who consciously chooses to embody good, even when it is not easy.

A top-class ensemble cast is on board, delivering great performances in this new Superman chapter. David Corenswet slips into the role of Superman and brings a palpable emotional depth to Clark Kent. Rachel Brosnahan is convincing as the brave and clever Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult delivers a strong antagonist as the brilliant and ruthless Lex Luthor. The cast is rounded out by exciting characters from the extended DC universe, including Hawkgirl, Mister Terrific, and Green Lantern, as well as Krypto, the loyal superdog who accompanies Superman on his mission and adds an extra layer of warmth.

The film is set to combine spectacular action with emotional depth and offer a modern, multifaceted interpretation of Clark Kent that will delight both fans and newcomers. We're excited and won't miss this cinema highlight! Grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the superhero's flight – that's what makes going to the movies really fun!
09.07.2025 • S.P.A.C.E POSTCARD COLLECTION JULY 2025
To properly celebrate the 40th anniversary of »Back to the Future« this month, a fitting motif adorns our postcard this July 🥳!

The choice for the photographer fell on Pascal, who already contributed a picture of Doc Brown and Marty McFly to our Postcard Collection four years ago. And – how could it be otherwise – this card also shows Marty with a guitar, because the iconic opening scene of the film left such an impression on Pascal that he eventually even picked up an electric guitar himself 🎸!

In addition to the NECA figures of Doc Brown and Marty and the matching accessory pack, he also used the base and amps included in the Jimi Hendrix set from McFarlane Toys. He had only recently found the latter on Ebay – almost as if he could foresee the future 😉.

The guitar in the picture is, of course, not the legendary red Gibson from the film – after all, that one is lost and desperately sought after. Please send any relevant information to losttothefuture.com!

Many thanks to Pascal for this wonderful postcard! You'll find one in every package we send you in July 📦.
