ABGESPACED episode 21 could almost use the tagline NEWS FROM THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE, because May 2022 of course totally was under the sign of the Force. We fully enjoyed that and invited Marcel (@corneliusfilms), who is a STAR WARS fan through and through, as co-pilot and co-host in our studio for this show.

Marcel and Sven are not only chatting about numerous collectibles, there's also intense talk shop about the latest geek news, an unboxing, a sweepstake and as bonus a goofy reaction on the 1st episode of »Obi-Wan Kenobi & Needles«. For the past four days, Anaheim, California has been the epicenter of the Force. After three years of being forced to take a break due to the pandemic, the STAR WARS CELEBRATION finally opened its doors again. A lot has happened in these three years. Disney+ was launched and the Star Wars franchise entered an exciting new phase with the new Star Wars live-action series.

Now fans, stars and creators finally had the great opportunity to celebrate Star Wars and themselves extensively. And they did with fantastic cosplay performances, new trailers, interviews, panels, exhibitions and lots of fun and action.

The list of guests was long, from Star Wars veterans Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) and Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) to Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Hayden Christensen (Darth Vader), who celebrated their reunion in the »Obi Wan Kenobi« series that started on Friday, up to Rosario Dawson as the titular heroine Ahsoka Tano in the »Ahsoka« series, which will start in 2023.

From the many often very entertaining interviews and presentations there is also a lot of news to report.

During the presentation titled »Mando+«, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni surprised attendees by bringing Rosario Dawson on stage. She has been shooting »Ahsoka« for three weeks. Along with some footage, two characters from »Star Wars: Rebels« have been announced as part of the series. Actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo will portray Sabine Wren. The character Hera Syndulla will also be there. It is not yet known who plays her. Two other actresses have been cast for »Ahsoka«, but their roles have not yet been officially announced: Ivanna Sakhno and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Possibly one of them will play Hera. Droid C1-10P aka Chopper will also be on board.

Katee Sackhoff will return as Bo-Katan in »The Mandalorian«! And she will probably play a bigger role. Season 3 will take us to Mandalore. The season starts in February 2023.

The new series »Star Wars: Skeleton Crew« was also announced, in which Jude Law will play an important role. Jon Watts will direct. The series takes place in the time of »The Mandalorian«, »The Book of Boba Fett« and »Ahsoka«. The show, which will stream in 2023, follows a group of kids who get lost in the galaxy and need to find their way home.

Last Friday, we already linked the trailers for »Andor« (start date: August 31st) and »Willow« (start date: November 30th). Additionally we got the trailers for »Star Wars: The Bad Batch« Season 2 and for the video game »Jedi: Survivor«.

The first moving images for »The Mandalorian« Season 3 and »Ahsoka« have also been shown - but these were yet exclusively for the fans on site.

There was a very informative and exciting look behind the scenes on Saturday with the presentation »Behind the Scenes of The Mandalorian & The Book of Boba Fett«. The exhibition »The Mandalorian Experience« with props, models and costumes from »The Mandalorian« was also worth seeing and certainly a highlight for the visitors. You can find a lot of walk-through videos on YouTube.

We already mentioned the grand finale of the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase on Friday. In honor of legendary composer John Williams' 90th birthday, Williams conducted the Pacific Symphony Orchestra through three compositions. It began with the debut of his score from the Disney+ series »Obi-Wan Kenobi«, followed by the iconic theme from »Indiana Jones«. The biggest surprise was that Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, took the stage to honor the great man and announce the release date for the fifth Indi-movie (June 29, 2023). To conclude the presentation, Williams conducted »The Imperial March« from »The Empire Strikes Back«. Pure goosebumps!

There were of course also a few premieres of new collectibles, but we'll tell you about them in a separate news article. This is the way!

Dear STAR WARS fans, Lucasfilm and Disney are giving us a really nice treatment this weekend. From today, we can finally enjoy not only the long-awaited »Obi-Wan Kenobi« series, but thanks to Star Wars Celebration 2022, that started off yesterday, there are millions of midi--chlorians everywhere around us!

Actually before Celebration kicked off, two brand-hot teaser trailers were dropped online: the one on the next STAR WARS Disney+ series »Andor« and a incredibly impressive teaser on »Willow«, the sequel to the 80's classic with Warwick Davis and Val Kilmer - definately check that out :).

The STAR WARS happening itself surely had a proper grand opening. None the less than maestro John Williams was on stage, conducting his orchestra and presented the world premiere of the »Obi-Wan Kenobi« theme to the fans. How unbelievable was this moment probably ... Congratulations to everybody who had the chance to experience this live on site.

Of course many manufacturers are coming up with the first con exclusives and new reveals. We surely can expect a lot from Sideshow and Hot Toys, like for example new stuff from »Clone Wars« (Barc Speeder and AT-RT) or a life-size C-3PO! Beware that all these impressions won't make your wirings melt down ...

In the early 2010s, the Taiwanese manufacturer Asmus Toys was still one of many small brands bustling about in the colorful sixth-scale world. In March 2013 they surprised the community with a »Lord of the Rings« license for 1/6 scale collectible figures. Today, some good nine years later, the figures from »The Lord of the Rings« and »The Hobbit« are still the flagships in the manufacturer's growing range. At the latest with Gandalf and the Crown Series, they have played their way into the premier league of figure makers.

The latest addition to the big Tolkien line is the Arwen in Death Frock figure which we have in stock in a noble exclusive version with great Elvish furniture accessories. Dope, right ❤️⚡?! Early July is not that far anymore ... 🤩!

Anyone who thought that Iron Studios shot all the powder with their in-house "Inside Iron Studios" stream in March, is totally wrong! Also end of April, there was again the full range of new statues in 1/10 scale!

The two highlights in our eyes of course came from the »Masters of the Universe« line, the two latest BDS Art Scale Statues: Evil-Lyn and the Sorceress. They fit perfectly alongside Skeletor on his throne and the Prince of Eternia thanks to the »Battle Diorama Series« feature.

The »Jurassic Park« series is joined by two new favorites in two versions each, the 1/10 Scale Velociraptor (The Lost World: Jurassic Park) and the 1/10 Scale Blue (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom).

On »Spider-Man: No Way Home« we can look forward to three versions of Peter Parker - one as Tom Holland, as Tobey Maguire and of course as Andrew Garfield.

After the Dementor and the Severus Snape statue, »Harry Potter« fans can now expand their collection with Hermione experimenting with the Polyjuice. The deluxe version also has an expanded Myrtle's bathroom diorama.

Anyone who thinks the announcement of another Resident Evil chapter during the year was a highlight has probably missed something. The chilling horror game is getting a spin-off - the Dead by Daylight Dating Simulator »Hooked on You«! What the ...? We also rubbed our eyes in amazement when we saw the trailer for it.

The series seems to have more focus on comedy than any other Marvel format, but of course action is not missing either. We've grown fond of Tatiana Maslany as attorney at law Jennifer Walters and the green title heroine at least since her Emmy winning roles in »Orphan Black«. To meet Mark Ruffalo again as her cousin Bruce Banner aka Smart-Hulk is surely also a big pleasure. And getting a first glimpse at Tim Roth as MCU rookie in the role as villain Abomination is definately a nice surprise 😀.

Even if the trailer doesn't convince us across the board, it has made us curious. Disney+ launch date is August 17, 2022.

20th Century Studios has now released a first teaser for »Prey«, the latest flick within the »Predator« franchise. It doesn't reveal much yet, but we definately like the atmosphere:

In the US, the film will be shown on streaming service Hulu. At the same time, it will be released in Germany / Europe on Disney+ on August 5th. We are really excited and look forward to see the ugly motherf****er again and the new hunting trip.

According to the motto ""Keep your friends close and your enemies closer", Obi-Wan and Darth Maul got together after a furious lightsaber duel to gape at our May 2022 postcard together 😅.

The two actors in sixth scale were set in scene stunningly by our friend Patrick (@wonderbunk) and they are adorning the cover of the latest postcard! May all this be a spoiler on the upcoming »Obi-Wan Kenobi« series ...? Who knows!

The remake of Stephen King's classic »Firestarter« hits theaters today. The first adaptation from 1984 with Drew Barrymore as firecracker Charlie McGee is showing its age. A fresh cell cure for the substance is definitely appropriate.

If you've tasted blood in terms of the "multiverse" thanks to »Doctor Strange«, you should definitely watch »Everything Everywhere All at Once« in the cinema - as long as it is still running!

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, also known as the "Daniels", have been on our radar since »Swiss Army Man«. Their new film tops the curiosity many times over.

An aging Chinese immigrant (Michelle Yeoh) is drawn into a madcap adventure where she alone can save the world by exploring other parallel universes connected to the lives she could have lived.

Family drama meets multiverse, meets adventure, meets martial arts. As the title suggests: everything everywhere and all at once. The film is a creative firework full of bizarre ideas and manages to quote Hong Kong action cinema, Stanley Kubrick's »2001« and the animated film »Ratatouille«.

The cast is top notch, above all Michelle Yeoh, plays great and can also address her own career as a martial arts star. Jamie Lee Curtis is almost unrecognizable as the nasty, buddha-bellied IRS officer and Ke Huy Quan (Short Round in »Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom«) makes a terrific comeback as Yeoh's husband, who proves a fanny pack can be a deadly weapon in an awesome Jackie Chan performance. For all its bizarreness, the film also poses existential questions, this, however, extremely charming and never loses sight of the mother-daughter conflict as the main theme.

»Everything Everywhere All at Once« currently has an 8.8 on IMDb, a Critic Tomatometer score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, and an Audience Score of 91%! In Germany too, our YouTubers from Robert Hofmann to the Filmgorillas celebrate the film frenetically. Our Mick has already seen the movie and gives it an enthusiastic five out of five stars and a big like on Letterboxd.

It's been 13 years since James Cameron enchanted us with his blockbuster »Avatar«. After what felt like an eternity, the time has come and Disney is presenting us the first teaser on »Avatar: The Way of Water«!

Outstanding score accompanies the first above- and underwater pictures and we are just extremely impressed - even in 2D on a normal screen. In 3D on the silver screen it surely appears on a whole other level.

There's not much spread about the story yet. We just learn that everything takes place over a decade after the first part. Jake and Neytiri have started a family, but the peaceful life on Pandora is once again being disturbed by men ...

If everything continues to go as planned, we will be able to enjoy Avatar 2 at cinemas from December 14, 2022 - definately on the big screen!

All »Game of Thrones« fans are surely eagerly awaiting the new prequel »House of the Dragon«. HBO Max released a new teaser trailer for the series over the weekend and fueled the hype once more:

Not much is apparent yet, a few fights, intrigues and of course dragons. The end of the clip provided a highlight: "History does not remember blood. It remembers names." - what an epic moment, goosebumps guaranteed!

In any case, the pictures look colossal and it's hard to wait for the start of the show on August 21st, 2022.

»Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness« is finally hitting cinemas this week. The first opinions on YouTube express mixed comments: the acting performances are excellent, but a big criticism is that the story often only scratches the surface, which unfortunately then seems quite unround. Precisely because hardly anything was known about the film beforehand and people went to the cinemas with great hope. The audience can tell that this film serves to pave the way for the MCU to come, but that feels a little lifeless and misses a lot of opportunities that could have been explored.

Such a multiverse offers a lot of creative possibilities, but it also harbors just as many narrative pitfalls. It may be difficult for those who are not so deeply involved in Marvel matters to keep track of things. Especially if you don't have a Disney+ subscription and therefore don't know series like »Loki« and »WandaVision«. Then the multiverse can certainly awaken the need for an aspirin...

Famous movie reviewer Robert Hofmann puts it pretty well when he says you don't have to have seen every Marvel movie before it, but it's kind of like going to a place where you've had something special and showing it to a friend or acquaintance. For them it's just a place - that's how the Multiverse of Madness works: without prior knowledge, it's like another film.

Anyway, we're curious to see what's next for the MCU and the multiverse. And of course, everybody needs to see »Doctor Strange 2« for himself. So off to the cinema 😃!
