The second generation of Autonomous Construct Units (ACU-2) was intended to merge organic life forms with cutting-edge cybernetics, effectively bringing machines to life. Instead, the project resulted in an unforeseen catastrophe.

The beings known as Mechroticons emerged from the failed ACU-2 experiments. These combined organic data conduits with cybernetic components and a serum derived from Cephalosite genetic material, designed to prevent biological rejection. The result was a race of creatures suspended between life and death. Although their bodies appear heavily decayed, they possess remarkable physical resilience and show no measurable signs of aging.

In the aftermath of the disaster, ACU-2 technology was banned across all five Rings. Even so, rumors persist of secret Mechroticon colonies hidden throughout the Cosmerrium. Thanks to their extraordinary capacity for data storage and processing, they could prove invaluable to those who control them. The first Mechroticon, known as Brainer, was liberated by the Mortal Thorn and has since served the organization by acquiring and analyzing critical intelligence.
