Winner of three Academy Awards and numerous other accolades, the 1975 film »Jaws« is regarded as a landmark in cinema history. Considered the first American blockbuster, the film is instantly recognizable for its suspenseful, menacing soundtrack composed by the legendary John Williams. The great white shark in the film measures approximately 25 feet (7.6 m) in length and weighs around 3 tons - a true apex predator brought to life on the big screen.

The source of inspiration was Damien Hirst's "The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living", a famous and controversial contemporary art installation from 1991 featuring a tiger shark preserved in formaldehyde in a glass display case, symbolizing themes such as life, death and the fragility of existence.
