Gandalf vs. Balrog

As Frodo Baggins’ mentor on the mission to destroy the One Ring, Gandalf leads the Fellowship through the Mines of Moria. Deep beneath the Misty Mountains lurks an ancient evil: the Balrog, a demon of the ancient world.

As the Fellowship advances, the Balrog is awakened. During their flight, it catches up with the group at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm. Gandalf alone stands his ground, holding back the fiery creature and sacrificing himself so that the others might escape.
