Rivendell Environment

With this highly detailed environment, Weta Workshop presents a completely reworked edition of the Elven city of Rivendell from »The Lord of the Rings«. Surrounded by towering mountains, flowing streams, and timeless Elven architecture, the scene captures the peaceful sanctuary where the Fellowship of the Ring gathers and the fate of the One Ring is decided.

The entire Rivendell landscape has been redesigned and developed from the ground up. Modern production methods, extensive research, and original blueprints, set references, and production materials formed the foundation for an even more detailed realization. The expansive terrain, natural waterways, and finely crafted Elven architecture faithfully recreate the atmosphere and appearance of the original film sets.

A particular highlight is the integrated courtyard where the Council of Elrond took place and the Fellowship of the Ring was formed. For the first time, this iconic location has been incorporated directly into the complete Rivendell scene and positioned according to the original film footage.

Crafted primarily from polystone, the environment was digitally modeled by Kathryn Parr, Bawal Saggi, and Simon Lissaman, with additional physical sculpting by Leonard Ellis. Featuring its expansive landscape and instantly recognizable locations, this environment beautifully captures the timeless beauty and unique atmosphere of Rivendell.

This new version is based on original concept art by Paul Lasaine, the Visual Effects Art Director of the film trilogy, whose designs played a key role in shaping the visual identity of Middle-earth. As an exclusive bonus, the first 1,000 pieces include a high-quality art print featuring this concept drawing.
