Right on time for Halloween we have a big portion of news from the collectibles universe for you, because our latest ABGESPACED episode just aired! If it is rather sweet or sour, you have to find out by yourself 😅.

The highlights in this show are - besides all the collectibles of course - surely the stories that our guest Tobias (filmmaker and collector) has to tell! And don't be afraid - it is no only about horror and creepy stuff, but we are also talking about Avatar, Top Gun 2 and My Little Pony 😀.

Nowadays, we get a lot of announcements for planned remakes of big gaming titles. One of the most wanted remakes is for sure the one of »Resident Evil 4«. Since its first release in 2005, the game was ported on nearly every platform including various remastered versions. Last year we even got a VR version of the game, that was exclusively released on Quest 2. And by the way: that worked perfectly - even without changing the original game!

Capcom actually seems to love Halloween: For the celebration of Halloween and »Resident Evil 4« they released new video footage and allowed some gaming journalists to check out their remake version. The feedbacks had something in common: They loved that game and congratulated Capcom for making the right decisions.

In terms of visuals, the remake will be more sinister than the original game. You can get an impression of that by checking out the available video footage: Everything seems more rotten, decayed and darker! Furthermore you will have the opportunity to play that game by choosing stealth tactics. So we see that Capcom is ready for trying some new stuff on one of their best titles. But don't worry: »Resident Evil 4« won't be a stealth game. Stealth will stay optional. You can also shoot up everything in your way 😜.

We at S.P.A.C.E are eager to play the remake! Let's hope that the developers will also include enough of that trashy charme which the original game was famous for.

Yesterday, one news shocked the gaming world: To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the first »The Witcher« game, CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory announced that they are working on a remake! Fool's Theory will be in charge of the development while CD will function as a creative supervisor.

To deliver state of the art graphics, the game will be developed with the use of the Unreal 5 engine. But they are not planning on just doing a visual makeover. They want to create a modern day version of the first »The Witcher«.

At the moment we can only guess, but it won't be of any surprise if we get besides modern gameplay even new content and new missions. What do you think?

We know that a lot of »The Witcher« players started with the third part and never checked out the predecessors. It is the same with the guys at the S.P.A.C.E Crew. But we are eager to change that when the time is right. We even started to speculate about possible new figures and statues 😉.

The anthology series »Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities« started on NETFLIX yesterday with the first two episodes. In the following three days, two more episodes will be added each day, giving us a nice Halloween countdown.

Each episode begins with an introduction by del Toro, who clearly enjoys being the host. This immediately creates a nice nostalgic feeling and evokes memories of comparable formats, above all »Alfred Hitchcock Presents«, but also »X Factor«, »Tales from the Crypt« and »The Twilight Zone«.

The first episode, »Lot 36«, is based on a del Toro story and it was directed by Guillermo Navarro. We know him as the cinematographer of »Pan's Labyrinth« and of various TV series including »Hannibal« and »Sleepy Hollow«. The episode deals with the eponymous storage room Lot 36, the contents of which are auctioned off after the death of the owner. The contract goes to Nick Appleton (Tim Blake Nelson), a racist, angry, arrogant war veteran. What he discovers in the chamber and plans to monetize becomes a life-changing experience...

The second episode »Graveyard Rats« is based on a story by Henry Kuttner (Twilight Zone). Vincenzo Natali is responsible for directing. He began his film career in the early 1990s as a storyboard artist before making his debut as a feature film director in 1997 with »Cube«. In the story we meet the gravedigger Masson (David Hewlett), who is in debt, who does not shy away from desecrating corpses in order to get money and who has a rat problem in his cemetery...

Both episodes are well cast, excellently designed and well photographed. The handmade, digitally spiced up effects are also convincing. The stories are equipped with narrative subtext and convey a narratively dense atmosphere, even if the two protagonists make it difficult for us to emotionally connect.

All in all, a promising start. Versatility has always been the strength of anthology series, so we're very excited to see what's to come over the next three days.

What a nice surprise for breakfast today: MARVEL STUDIOS dropped the first trailer on »Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania« last night - and it's a blast!

Especially visually the 3rd part of Ant-Man appears totally different. The look of the Quantum Realm is sci-fi at its best, although the few scenes showing the earthly life of Scott Lang (again awesomely played by Paul Rudd) are looking so damn cool with that very special goofy tone that Ant-Man simply has.

Super cool are also the first short glimpses on Jonathan Majors (Kang The Conqueror) and - yes!! - Bill Murray! Go and check it out and turn on your sound really loud, because also the music during the clip is rocking, as we think! Have fun 😃🐜:

If a movie is successful, it gets a sequel - and if it's very successful, the creators give it an entire universe these days. That's what happened with THE CONJURING.

»The Conjuring« was the surprise hit in 2013. Director James Wan gave the haunted house subgenre a makeover with the film. Although the movie relied on the jump scares frowned upon by horror hardliners, it also showed that these can have a great effect if you use them correctly. With Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren in their roles as demonologists, the film gave us two likeable leads. »The Conjuring 2«, also directed by James Wan, was able to maintain the quality of the first part.

Everything that came after that was either a cash grab like »Annabelle« or at best acceptable to bad. But even disappointing films like »The Nun« get a sequel that nobody asked for. Unfortunately, the third film in the parent series disappointed as well.

Part 4 is again produced by James Wan, but Michael Chaves, who is already responsible for »The Curse of Llorona« and »The Conjuring 3«, will be directing again. All of this taken together doesn't let us burst into a storm of enthusiasm, but let's just wait and see - and hope that it can build on the quality of the first two films, even if we have our doubts ...
 

The second season of the series »Barbarians« is available on Netflix from today. After a two-year wait, it's finally going on. The long break is partly due to the Corona Pandemic, but also to the detailed design of the Germanic world, although the series is probably not stingy with violence in Season 2 either. We guess that many heads will roll again even after the Varus battle.

Somebody say again, there are no good series coming from Germany. We are looking forward to the new six bloody episodes and are very excited to see how the story of Thusnelda, Arminius and Folkwin continues.

 

Starting today, we can witness Dwayne Johnson in his superhero debut as »Black Adam« in cinemas. The first reviews are not so impressive and speak of a mediocre film. But to be honest, who would have expected a great cinematic masterpiece? Dwayne Johnson plays Dwayne Johnson as always, wearing a superhero costume this time and mastering his grim facial expression, but in a perfect manner. Then there's a lot of ka-bang and CGI explosions. But all of that can be very entertaining if you don't necessarily attach importance to connecting emotionally to the characters or experiencing a story full of twists and turns.
Order the XXL popcorn bucket, switch your brain to energy-saving mode and have fun.

Last week we have buried Michael Myers. This time for real. At least that is what they want to tell us at the end of the movie.
So there is a need for a new horror icon! But where can you find good staff these days? ;)

After the theatrical release of »Terrifier 2« in the USA we have found a candidate for the job: Art the Clown!
Maybe you already know the horrorclown from »Terrifier« (2016) directed by Damien Leone. Now it seems that Art the Clown is getting really big!

Audience and criticques alike claim that this movie is intense and full of raw violence. They even state that this is the most brutal movie of the year. On Twitter we could even find reports of people who got sick or faded out because of that movie. Even Stephen King seems to find some interest in »Terrifier 2« and was asking his community about Art the clown.

You see: The hype is real!

In terms of narrative »Terrifier 2« doesn't have anything surprising on it: Art the Clown gets resurrected by some supernatural entity.
After that he goes straight back to his business: The hunting and killing of innocent teenagers! But who cares about story, when you can have some entertaining bloodshed committed by a horrorclown?

We at the S.P.A.C.E headquarters are eager to know if we are strong enough for that movie. And we are happy to witness the establishment of another horror icon.

According to IMDb only Spain is blessed with an upcoming release date on Novembre 2nd. We hope that will change soon...

Vought International has two new additions to the Supes ranks. Amazon Prime Video has revealed the first images of Firecracker and Sister Sage making their series debut in »The Boys« season four. The photos show Susan Heyward as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry in her Firecracker costume.

Both characters were created for the series and have no counterpart in the comic books. So far, the only thing that has been said about the characters is somewhat cryptically:
“Meet Sage. She's already a thousand steps ahead of you. And let's just say Firecracker has a short fuse."

Anything else about the new Supes is being kept under wraps until the season airs, according to Amazon.

The fourth season is currently being produced in Toronto. It remains exciting!

The weather forecast predicts a rather wet and uncomfortable weekend. Best opportunity then to make yourself comfortable on the sofa, watch a good movie or even binge a whole series. We have taken a look at the various streaming services and listed a few worthwhile restarts for you.

»Spider-Man: Far from Home« starts today on DISNEY+ for all fans of the friendly neighborhood spider. And if you're already in Shocktober-Halloween mode, we recommend the first episode of the second season of the anthology series »American Horror Stories«, which is also available on Disney+ today. If you have saved the much-discussed AMAZON PRIME series »The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power«. Starting today, the first season with its finale can be viewed in its entirety.

The mini-series »Shantaram« with Charlie Hunman (Sons of Anarchy) starts today on APPLE TV+. Embark on an adventure in Bombay.

The horror mystery series »The Watcher« started yesterday on Netflix, starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale.

»The Midnight Club« has been online for a week now. The German title is a bit misleading, but at the latest when you hear that Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House ) is behind the series you should pay attention.

And the 4th season of the German Sky series »Babylon Berlin«, which is well worth seeing, has also been online for a week.

Today we await the 13th part of the »Halloween«-franchise titled »Halloween Ends«. Even if you wasn't that amused with the two predecessors »Halloween« (2018) and »Halloween Kills« (2021), as a horrorgeek you just can't avoid Michael Myers.

We at S.P.A.C.E recognize two main reasons for that: At first Michael won't be alone this time. He got old and almost bored with spreading fear and mayhem. But old habits are hard to overcome and so he recruits an psychologically damaged teenager. Someone has to do the dirty work!

And at second it seems like this will be the final part of the »Halloween« movies. This time for real! It was handed down that Jamie Lee Curtis, actress of main character Laurie Strode, even shed some tears during the last scenes of the film shot. Maybe those were tears of joy: Now Laurie Strode can finally enjoy a calm and peaceful retirement.

We hope that the possible final installment of the »Halloween«-franchise will be good. And we can't await to see the way how Michael will teach his dubious skills. 😉

Even if you don't deviate from your way, sometimes you just can't keep on track and get stuck.

Anyone who was out and about in New York last weekend could sometimes not be quite sure; was that still New York or maybe Gotham City? Or had you stumbled into a parallel universe populated by characters from anime and comics?

It was Comic Con again, so there were plenty of imaginative cosplays to be found around the Javits Center. Our favorite was Stevepool, a crossover of Deadpool and Steve in a sailor suit from Stranger Things. You have to come up with an idea like that first.

Of course, there were also a lot of star guests who answered questions from the media in interviews and from fans in panels, reported on upcoming films and series. The most emotional moment for us was the reunion of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who remembered their time together as Marty McFly and Doc Emmett Brown in »Back to the Future«.

There was also a large array of new trailers. Highlights for us were; THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE, which is visually pleasingly close to the games. All anime fans will have been happy about the teaser for ONE PIECE FILM RED and Star Trek fans will have rejoiced in STAR TREK: PICARD by Paramount+ at seeing many old friends again. VIOLENT NIGHT with David Harbor (Stranger Things) as Santa Claus who takes on terrorists in die-hard-maner. The film from the producers of Nobody, John Wick and Deadpool 2 could become a new holiday classic. Unfortunately, the teaser for DC's TITANS on HBO Max didn't told us anything. Our attention was definitely caught by the AMC+ witch series ANNE RICE'S MAYFAIR WITCHES, based on the Anne Rice trilogy »Lives of the Mayfair Witches«. The preview of WEDNESDAY, which we already showed you yesterday, is also funny. Last but not least, gamers with an affinity for DC got their money's worth and could look forward to many beloved heroes such as Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin and a lot of no less revered villains in the trailer for GOTHAM KNIGHTS.

As far as new collectibles are concerned, the output was rather meager, because as before at the San Diego Comic Con, many exhibits were already shown in the run-up to the convention. But there are of course a few highlights that we would like to mention.

With a virtual sideshow con, SIDESHOW once again made their own show on YouTube. The Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) Premium Format Figure for »The Suicide Squad« and the absolutely enchanting Zatanna Premium Format Figure are real eye-catchers. The sideshow artists have outdone themselves once again.

There was also a very impressive lady to admire at PCS in the form of the fantastic Aeon Flux 1/3 Scale Statue. Well done PCS! If you prefer your statues to be a bit bloody, PCS had another nice treat in its range with the American Psycho Quarter Scale Statue.

NECA showed a few of their Ultimate Universal Monsters, but only known models. However, »Bride of Frankenstein« and the Gill-Man from »Creature from the Black Lagoon« were teased. Also, »The Phantom of the Opera« will appear in the line. Another Phantom was introduced in the Universal Monsters Turtles crossover. Casey Jones will take this role!

When it comes to horror, keep an eye on the »31 Nights of Fright« reveals this month. Until Halloween, NECA provides us with new sneak peeks of new products from the horror department on Instagram and Facebook every day. For example, the Predator from the new film »Prey« was shown for the first time.

Exciting announcements were made by Todd McFarlane on the McFARLANE Toy Panel. The Movie Maniacs will return, but they won't no longer focus exclusively on horror characters. McFarlane has entered into a partnership with Warner Bros. for this purpose. Wave 1 will consist of The Wicked Witch of the West from »The Wizard of Oz«, Bugs Bunny, Harry Potter and Ted Lasso. In addition to the well-known 7inch avatar series, a series of smaller figures and playsets will be launched with »World of Pandora«. Plenty of supplies await us in the DC Multiverse series as well. A highlight will be the characters from the Nolan Batman trilogy. Replenishment is of course also available in the 6inch DC retroline.

A new trailer of Tim Burton's upcoming Netflix Original Series »Wednesday« premiered at New York Comic Con. The wonderful orchestral version of »Paint it Black« provides the right soundtrack and gets us in the right mood right away while the first clues to supernatural dangers and the crime/mystery plot of the series unfold before our eyes.

The trailer also reveals two important characters. It was already known that »Addams Family« actress Christina Ricci would be taking on a role alongside her successor, Jenna Ortega. In the trailer she now has her first appearance. She plays Marylin Thornhill, one of the staff at Nevermore Academy. The second revelation is Wednesday's encounter with Uncle Fester, played by Fred Armisen (Saturday Night Live), who's already giving off great Addams Family vibes in this preview.

The series starts on November 23, on a Wednesday of course.

It didn't took too much time after the announcement of MARVEL STUDIOS' »Werewolf By Night« until there was a big hype about it. Critiques are already praising the 52 minute long shortfilm and from today, we all have the chance to watch the flick on Disney+. Most of the staff the S.P.A.C.E Headquarter are also infected with the hype and cannot longer wait seeing it!

One reason for the high expectation is the unique black and white look, which is reminding us of the good old times of horror movies presented by Universal Pictures. But it isn't like Marvel and director Michael Giacchino are only trying to pay respect towards classics. They also go new ways and are obviously trying to combine the grace of the Universal classics with some decent portions of blood and violence.

»Werewolf By Night« tells the story of a bunch of monster hunters who gather at a strange place named Bloodstone Temple. Here they are remembering the life of their recently deceased leader. Then there is a hunt for a relic. The only problem with that? One of the gang is a godforsaken werewolf!

Too keep it short and simple: If you like Marvel and/or horror movies you should check out Disney+ this weekend. It surely is a great way to get in the right mood for Halloween 😄. We are really excited 🧐!

BIG APPLE is becoming the epic center of pop culture again, because today, NEW YORK COMIC CON kicks off in Manhattan 🥳!

After SDCC, the summer break was a bit tough at almost every manufacturer, but thanks to NYCC the party is getting started again - this time finally on site at Javits Center again!

We're looking forward to new products from Super7, NECA, Diamond Select Toys, Tamashii Nations and many more, who will have a booth in New York. It was recently announced via Twitter that the shooting of the latest »Planet of the Apes« part is about to begin next month. The movie, called »Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes«, will take place many years after the events of »War for the Planet of the Apes« and is scheduled for a release in 2024.

Wes Ball (»Maze Runner«) has been hired to direct the movie and we can look forward to actors like Owen Teague (»It«), Freya Allan (»The Witcher«) and Peter Macon (»The Orville«). Great news, as we think - and we're excited to get more information about the plot soon.

Our October product of the month is already giving you the creeps. The mastermind behind it all is Ygor the Hunchback from the hugely successful crossover of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with the Universal Monsters from NECA!

Ygor is a fictional character of the Universal Monsters who often acts as a villain's laboratory assistant. Like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, he is usually portrayed as hunchbacked and submissive. The first Hunchback appeared on the screen in 1931 in the film »Frankenstein« with the name "Fritz". His first role as "Ygor" was played by Bela Lugosi in »Son of Frankenstein« in 1939. And in 2022, Leonardo from the Turtles can slip into this role!

We think the figure is really stunning, the artwork of the box is a feast for the eyes for every shelf and we can't get enough of him. Leo does best next to his brothers Raphael (as Frankenstein's Monster), Michelangelo (as The Mummy) and Donatello (as The Invisible Man). So if you're a fan of the Turtles and also like creepy creatures, you can't pass by "Ygor"!
